My Photo Journal

Images that inspire me.

Our pond had hundreds of these little birds descend into it for a bath party one afternoon. They filled the pond and the surrounding trees and patio!

Growth in my garden

  • Amazing

Buying a home is a dream come true for us but we had to leave behind some treasured plants and flowers we had planted while renting a house for a number of years in Redmond. Our landlord had planted such beautiful things, we were happy to contribute and leave behind something of us. I had planted some of my favorite flower bulbs, the German Bearded Iris. Here was the last blooming we enjoyed. I will be planting bulbs next spring in our new garden!

  • Growing Your Own Food

There is so much joy in growing your own food. We tried a keyhole composting bed (Costco) and had beautiful results! So fun to pick your veggies right before you prepare them to serve.

  • Adventures

As a child I grew up with a bit of thick forest behind my house. My sister and I used to go on many adventures and this little bit of wilderness behind my new home evokes powerful memories and excited me to go on another adventure. I love this!

The Elements

  • The Power of light.

As an artist, I have been trained to see and translate light. How it lands on objects, the direction, how it changes the way you see the object. How it changes the color of everything. I have captured many great moments with the sun streaming through the woods at differing times of the day.

  • The Gift of Water.

I built a koi pond and water fall many years ago in a previous home. I enjoyed that project from start to finish. It was a sad day when I had to sell that home and move. Finding this house with such a similar pond full of happy fish was a gift from the universe. The local wild life are all drawn to the water, so we get some great visitors.

  • Trees

I took this photo at a nearby park of what I believe to be a grove of birch trees. So beautiful and begging to be painted.

Bamboo

  • So Beautiful

Recently buying a home with such beautiful plant life has been such a blessing to us. We have 3 kinds of mature bamboo growing in our new yard. This photo was new growth I witnessed this last summer. These are the bamboo leafs before they unfurl.

  • Don't Blink

New bamboo growth happens incredibly fast. I tried to document the growth of one stalk and missed a few days and it flew up over my my head. I’ve read in some climates they can grow 1.5 inches an hour during their 60 day growing cycle. I am here to say that I now know that to be possible. Their growth is like nothing I have ever seen before.

  • Curious

These plants are amazing and I am looking forward to learning more about them by coexisting with them through the coming seasons. I will share my discoveries here.
